Synopsis
New Years Eve, 1999.
The future has never seemed so bright for the American dream. Thanks to a breakneck technology boom, the dot com bubble seems like it will never burst. But as the party rages down in Times Square, the Y2K bug creeps ever closer, threatening to destroy the global economy and heralding a devastating recession.
But you have a plan.
You and your colleagues have been called in for one last frantic night at the stock brokerage before the collapse of society, where the mantra is “Sell, baby, sell!” Lie, cheat, murder if you have to, every option is on the table in the name of creating profit. Will you navigate the shark infested waters of the financial world and become new age royalty overnight, or will you succumb to the capitalist hellscape and languish in poverty for the rest of your life? The power is in your hands.
Developed with the BA Performance students at ICT Brighton, this world premiere interactive immersive show marks Ludens Theatre Company's debut. Placing audiences at the center of a ravenous Manhattan bullpit, The Tight Squeeze offers players the power to challenge, reshape, and redefine the rules of capitalism.
